GHIDRA TRICORE FUNDAMENTAL

This course resembles a puzzle of a big picture, it is an entrance ticket to reverse engineering. After completing it, there are a lot of questions left, especially for beginners. In my opinion, the point of this course is to get materials for further work in practice, during the work specific questions will arise and at this moment you can use these materials, because now they will be at your fingertips at any time and in a structured form, so it is an integral part of mastering reverse engineering.
The course corresponds to the name - the foundation. Other modules are mandatory for study.

GASOLINE PRACTICE

I’m extremely happy with both courses and can honestly say my knowledge has increased massively since completing them.

Before starting, I already had experience working with ECU files and WinOLS, but most of it came from practice and from working with existing tuned files. I wanted to properly understand what I was doing — why certain changes are made and how the different maps and strategies actually work together.

The Gasoline Fundamental course gave me the theory and logic behind gasoline ECU calibration, and the Gasoline Practice course showed me how to put that into real-world use. Combining the two completely changed the way I look at and analyse a file. I’m now far more confident identifying maps in WinOLS and, more importantly, I understand the reason behind every change I make instead of copying someone else’s.

Thomas explains things in a clear, detailed and practical way, and I’ve been able to apply a lot of it directly to my everyday work. I still have plenty to learn, but these courses have given me a much stronger foundation to keep progressing.

I’d definitely recommend Tuners Guild to anyone who is serious about properly understanding ECU tuning. Thank you Thomas — I really appreciate the knowledge and effort you’ve put into these courses.

Hello, my name is Marcin, I’m a car mechanic by profession. For several years now, I’ve been interested in tuning combustion engines and boosting their power output.
I’ve reached the point where I need deeper knowledge about tuning engine ECUs so I can do it myself.
When I first opened the file in WINOLS, I had no idea what was inside, so I started searching for information online and ended up with this course, which turned out to be a bull’s-eye.
It’s a truly excellent course. The beginnings were difficult, but with each hour I spent, I began to understand what was happening in the engine ECU. I began to distinguish individual maps and locate them in the file, learned the connections between maps, and so on.
The course contains a vast amount of knowledge not available anywhere else, presented in a simple and straightforward manner. I’m very satisfied and can’t wait for the next stage, which I’ll be starting soon.

GHIDRA TRICORE FUNDAMENTAL

Hi everyone! To avoid stagnation and boredom in our field, it’s essential to keep growing and broadening one’s horizons. I recently completed the *Ghidra Fundamentals* course. It introduced me to the program’s interface, turning what once seemed like a complete mystery into something understandable. I gained fundamental skills—such as creating a project, loading a file, and selecting the correct processor language. In short, I now know how to get started in Ghidra. I learned about registers and how they function, and I gained a basic understanding of function logic and data flow between them. There was even an interesting example involving speed limits. All in all, the foundation is laid; now comes the hard work of reinforcing the material through practice—which is the key to proficiency. Next up: practice and mastery. I’m looking forward to continuing my learning journey. Next up: Practice and Mastery.

GHIDRA RENESAS FUNDAMENTAL

This course was extremely valuable to me because it gave me a strong understanding of the fundamentals of Renesas assembly language and the overall process of reverse engineering ECU software.

One of the most important things I learned was how the different registers are used and how basic programming logic works . The course helped me better understand instructions involving comparisons, IF conditions, AND/OR and jumps . I also gained a clearer understanding of instructions such as BLE , JAR1 and how these instructions control the flow of a program. Learning how to move instruction out of one function and correctly return or jump back into the function was particularly useful.

The course also greatly improved my ability to use Ghidra. I learned better techniques for importing ECU files, disassembling them, setting up the analysis correctly, and distinguishing between executable code, calibration data and other information stored in flash.

This knowledge is especially important to me because I work extensively with Denso ECUs, where a DAMOS or other definition file is often unavailable. My goal is to become proficient in reverse engineering so that I can understand what is happening behind the calibration maps rather than simply modifying known maps.

Overall, the course has provided me with a much stronger foundation for analyzing toyota ecu software and has moved me closer to being able to perform more advanced tuning work, including understanding code and developing map-switching solutions and carrying out emissions-related calibration work with a much better understanding.

Ultimately i want to be able to protect my work better sop this course is really great for me now.

I would also love to see some work done in the SH2A processors as i also work with these denso models .

GHIDRA RENESAS PRACTICE

The Renesas Ghidra Practice Course was extremely valuable because it moved beyond simply understanding and reading assembly language and focused heavily on actually writing and implementing code. This hands-on approach was one of the most useful aspects of the course for me.

I learned practical techniques for writing new code and implementing it within an existing ECU program. This included writing protective code to help protect tuning work and hide calibration maps, as well as creating code for practical tuning functions such as launch control and map switching. We also worked with map relocation, which demonstrated how calibration data can be moved and how the code can be modified to reference the new location.

Another valuable part of the course was learning how to identify and use available empty areas of memory for implementing new code. Seeing how new functions could be written in unused areas of the ram and then connected back into the original program gave me a better understanding of how custom tuning features can actually be developed.

The course also demonstrated practical ways of using Ghidra throughout this process. Rather than only analyzing what the manufacturer had written, I was able to see how that understanding could be used to create and implement new tuning solutions.

One area I would have liked to see covered in greater depth was how to identify RAM locations and suitable switch locations within RAM. More hands-on practice tracing RAM addresses and determining where variables or switching strategies can safely be implemented would have made the course even more valuable to me.

Overall, the course provided practical experience with the type of coding required by tuners today. Learning to implement map switching, map relocation, launch control and calibration protection has increased my confidence for developing my own custom tuning solutions.

GASOLINE FUNDAMENTAL

After finishing the Diesel courses, I decided to continue with Gasoline Fundamental. At first, gasoline tuning looked much more complicated to me compared to diesel. There are many different maps, strategies, relationships, and things that need to be understood together, so I expected it to be quite difficult to follow.

However, everything in the course was explained very well and in such detail that understanding and following the lessons was not as difficult as I initially expected. The explanations are clear and structured, and I especially liked that things are not just shown without explanation. You actually learn what you are looking for, why it is important, how different maps and functions work together, and what effect they have on the engine.

One of the most useful parts for me was learning good methods and tips for finding maps and identifying them correctly, especially when you don’t have all the information available. The course does a good job of explaining the logic behind what you are searching for instead of leaving unknown areas that you just have to guess.

Having already completed the Diesel courses definitely helped me with some of the basic understanding, but Gasoline Fundamental introduced many new concepts and showed me that gasoline calibration has a lot more depth than I originally thought.

Overall, I am very satisfied with the course. It gives you a strong foundation and, more importantly, helps you understand what you are doing instead of simply following steps. I am looking forward to continuing with the next courses and putting this knowledge into practice.

GASOLINE PRACTICE

After finishing Gasoline Fundamental, now it was time to actually put everything to work and apply what we learned to a real file. In the Fundamental course we learned how to find the different maps, what they are used for and how they work together, but in the Practice course you actually start applying that knowledge and making the changes yourself.

What I found especially useful was learning which parameters are safe to change, where they should be changed and, most importantly, understanding the reasoning behind those changes and what you actually get from them. Instead of just being told to increase a map by a certain percentage, you start understanding why you are increasing it, what effect it has and how it works together with the other maps in the ECU.

Gasoline cars are definitely more “fun” when it comes to tuning, but because of that they also require more work and understanding, which makes sense. There are a lot of different maps and strategies working together, and changing one thing can depend on several other things being adjusted correctly. This practice helped connect everything from the Fundamental course and made the complete structure much easier to understand.

I also liked being able to work through the maps myself because it gives you more confidence when opening a gasoline file and trying to understand what needs to be done instead of just relying on somebody else’s solution.

Overall, I think Gasoline Practice puts you on a good track towards being able to do what you actually want with gasoline cars while understanding the reasoning behind the modifications. Now I am looking forward to the Stage 2 and Stage 3 courses, where hopefully we can go even deeper into the maps and file structure and learn how to modify cars more specifically according to customer requests.

WINOLS FROM ZERO

As a Mechatronics engineer, I have been working mainly on Cummins engines using software like Calterm. While I already had basic knowledge of WinOLS and a general understanding of how to work with .bin files, the lessons learned during this course were a complete game-changer for me.

I was able to deepen my knowledge, complement what I already knew with WinOLS, and ultimately speed up my workflow while optimizing costs. At first, I was a little skeptical about taking the course, but I am truly grateful I did. Both instructors, Stanislav and Thomas, created high-quality content. I had been searching the internet for over a year for something like this.

Now, I feel much more confident using WinOLS’s specialized functions to improve and streamline my work. Functions like searching, copying, and filtering maps, as well as using special selectors, have become an essential part of my daily routine.

GASOLINE PRACTICE

I would like to express my gratitude to Stanislav and Thomas. This is a useful product for tuners who have decided to start editing files themselves. What is covered in the course can be used as a basis and supplemented with your own modifications to the approach, making your solution unique. It is crucial to understand the methodology, not simply copy it.
During the course, I learned some important points about engine tuning, which helps me monetize the time I spend creating the solution every day.
Overall, I believe the Gasoline Practice course will help you understand how to do what you really want with gasoline-powered cars, while also understanding the rationale behind the modifications. I am now looking forward to the second and third stages of the course, where we will hopefully delve even deeper into the maps and file structure and learn how to modify cars according to customer requests.

WINOLS FROM ZERO

My name is Stoyan Kostadinov, I am 30 years old, and I work as a web programmer with 6 years of professional experience. Automotive ECU tuning has been a serious interest of mine for around 8 years, and during that time I have tried to learn as much as possible from forums, videos, different files, examples, and practice.

The biggest problem I always had was the lack of structured knowledge. There is a lot of information available online, but it is usually fragmented, incomplete, or focused only on specific maps and modifications without explaining the complete methodology behind the work.

That is exactly what I found different here.

Before starting WINOLS FROM ZERO, I already had some experience with ECU reading, writing, modified files, and basic work inside WinOLS, but most of my knowledge was self-taught and built through trial and error. The course helped me finally put many of those pieces together in a structured way and better understand how WinOLS should actually be used.

I improved my understanding of 2D view, map recognition, structuring maps, axes, comparing files, selectors, searching, references, and generally organizing the whole workflow much better. Instead of simply trying to recognize familiar shapes, I now approach the file with much more logic and structure.

After almost 8 years of trying to understand chip tuning properly, this is the first place where I have found the knowledge presented in a way that builds step by step and actually connects the different parts together.

For me, WINOLS FROM ZERO was not just an introduction to the software, but the missing foundation I had been looking for for years.

My name is Stoyan Kostadinov, I am 30 years old, and I work as a web programmer with 6 years of professional experience. I have been interested in chip tuning for around 8 years, but most of what I learned before joining TunersGuild came from scattered information, forums, videos, modified files, and a lot of trial and error.

After completing WINOLS FROM ZERO, DIESEL FUNDAMENTAL helped me understand something even more important — the logic behind the calibration itself.

Before this course, I already knew many of the common diesel maps by name and had some practical experience working with tuned files, but I did not have a complete understanding of how all the different systems interact with each other. Torque request, torque limiters, smoke limitation, boost, airflow, rail pressure and other related maps were things I had seen many times, but not always as parts of one complete strategy.

The course helped me connect those pieces together and understand why a modification is made, what effect it has on the rest of the calibration, and why simply increasing values or copying changes from another file is not a proper tuning approach.

For me, this structured explanation is the biggest value of the course. After years of searching for information online, this is the first time I have found the diesel tuning fundamentals explained in a way that is organized, logical, and actually builds a proper understanding from the ground up.

DIESEL FUNDAMENTAL gave me a much clearer picture of how a diesel ECU controls the engine and changed the way I look at calibration files completely.

I have been trying to understand chip tuning properly for around 8 years, but most of my knowledge before these courses came from scattered information, forums, videos, modified files, and trial and error.

After WINOLS FROM ZERO and DIESEL FUNDAMENTAL, DIESEL PRACTICE was the course where the theory finally turned into a real workflow.

The biggest value for me was seeing how a complete diesel calibration is approached from start to finish. Instead of looking at individual maps separately, the course showed how the different parts of the strategy have to work together when building a proper Stage 1 or Stage 1+ file.

It helped me understand much better how to balance torque request, torque limiters, smoke limitation, boost pressure, rail pressure, airflow-related maps and turbo control, and how changes in one area affect the rest of the calibration.

What I liked most is that the course is focused on methodology rather than simply giving ready-made values to copy. It teaches how to think through the calibration, how to understand what needs to be changed, and how to keep the file consistent and logical.

After years of trying to piece this knowledge together from different sources, DIESEL PRACTICE gave me the practical structure I had been missing. It made the complete tuning process much clearer and helped me understand how to approach Stage 1 and Stage 1+ files in a much more professional and systematic way.

I have been working with ECU tuning and calibration for quite a long time, but this course helped me significantly improve my understanding of reverse engineering and working with ECU software in Ghidra. I especially appreciated the structured approach and practical explanations, which made it easier to understand not only how the code works, but also how to analyze functions, logic, conditions, and relationships between different parts of the software.

During the course, I improved my workflow and became much more confident when analyzing ECU code and understanding how different functions interact with calibration data. I also learned several useful approaches that I can apply in my daily work when investigating more complex ECU strategies.

Even with previous experience in ECU tuning, the course gave me a much better foundation for working at code level instead of relying only on calibration maps. Overall, the course was practical, well structured, and very useful. I am happy with my progress and I am looking forward to developing my reverse-engineering skills further.

Hello, my name is Farid and i am from Algeria

I am not an automotive professional but rather enthousiast with some experience in diagnostics.

I already finished one Diesel chiptuning course which was pretty informative and usefull but i decided to consolidate my knowledge by taking another professional curriculum. I have found Grubo o chiptuningu channel on Youtube. Thomas explanations and way of presenting thing leaded me to his website and after sevberal weeks of researches i decided to go with him. I like a lot systematical approach and tips he delivered. The explanations were very clear and gave me understanding rather than copy paste habits.

I am planning to continue with Diesel track and later with Gasoline and i can definitely recommend for anyone who wants to be out of batch.

After completing the Gasoline Fundamental course, I continued with the Gasoline Practice course. I highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to learn how to tune gasoline cars.

I used to have a certain amount of respect for gasoline ECUs, but after completing the course, I can honestly say that it is not as complicated as I originally thought. The course taught me how to find maps even without a DAMOS, as well as how to properly carry out the actual tuning.

I would like to thank you for creating courses like these. I will definitely continue with the other courses as well, such as Ghidra Full.

If you want to learn how to properly tune gasoline cars, don’t hesitate for a moment. You simply won’t find this kind of information and practical experience just anywhere.

The short videos are well explained and easy to understand, This coarse could followed by someone who has never opened Ghidra!
I own an auto electrical repair business and strongly believe you need to understand how things work in order to repair them correctly.
Thomas DPF off video on youtube spiked my interest in Ghidra. I had loaded and played with Ghidra before I signed up but wasn’t sure if I had set it up or was using it correctly (Managed to track some 12bit ADCs, worked through the conversions and followed to where a voltage is stored in the ram).
After watching the it turns out I was a lot more competent than I thought, Worked through most of the training within a few days. I was expecting it to be much more complicated. Think its time for the next step.

I’m Ivan, I have been working on cars for over 10 years as a Diagnose Technician

Starts on Winols without a course was very difficult at that time but with effort I learned the basics and start comparing archive from the web and from fileservice to learn how people modified the files but for me this isn’t my goal.

I like to learn how to modified by me (not copy on forum) I wish to know how calculate the results and with this Course I learned how the Ecu Works and the maps that are critical to achive a real Stage1

I wish to start the Practice Course to apply all the information that I have now thanks to the Diesel Fundamental Course
